I love power lifting. I love lifting heavy things and putting them down. However, my strength gains have hit a plateau and so has my weight loss. Since the winter is coming, I think it’s ok for me to take a break from lifting heavy. It actually has been something I have been contemplating for some time now. I didn’t really want to take a break from lifting heavy but I want to lose weight more than I want to have big gains in my lifts. I’m not worried about taking a break for about 4 months from lifting heavy. Not at all. I’m actually excited. I want to see how my body responds to the change in pace. Matter of fact, I’m not completely not lifting heavy, I’ll just have a heavy week once a month. I’m going to give it a go with some of the Weider Principles I read about when I was a teenager. Muscle confusion and a 3-4 month routine. I’ve seen some routines where power-bodybuilders mixed up power lifting and bodybuilding. I won’t go to that extreme but I will incorporate some heavy days every 3 weeks.
Well after this week I’m going to go into a new regimen. I’ll be doing some supersets, giant sets, ploymetrics, high rep ranges, and training the same body part twice a week. I can’t wait now. I need a break from lifting heavy, my body is screaming for a break. I won’t push myself into injury no more.
